Getting Started
No. StenoPad works completely offline on your device with no account required. You only need an account if you want to sync notes across devices or share with family members.
StenoPad is coming soon to Android (phones and tablets), iOS and iPad, Linux, macOS, and Windows.
StenoPad is built around search. When you open the app, you see a search bar - start typing and your notes appear instantly. You can still use notebooks if you want to organize things, but you don’t have to. The goal is zero friction: capture fast, find faster.
We’re working on importers for popular note apps. Check back soon for updates on Joplin, Obsidian, and other import options.
Features
Yes! When you share a URL to StenoPad from your browser or any app, it’s saved as a note. You can add your own notes alongside the link.
StenoPad uses a rich text editor with formatting toolbar. When you paste or share Markdown content (like from Joplin or Obsidian), it automatically converts to rich text.
You can paste images directly into notes or attach files. Attachments sync across devices up to your storage limit (1GB for Personal, 5GB for Family, 10GB for Friends & Family). Individual attachments are limited to 10MB.
Yes! Add a StenoPad widget to your home screen for one-tap access to a new note. You can also share text or URLs directly to StenoPad from any app.
Sync & Sharing
Your notes sync automatically across all your devices when you’re online. If you’re offline, changes sync as soon as connectivity is restored. You can always access and edit your notes, internet or not.
StenoPad automatically merges your changes. If you edited different parts of a note, both changes are preserved. For most everyday use, this just works without any intervention needed.
With a Family or Friends & Family plan, the account owner can invite members by email. Each member gets their own account with private notes. You can then choose to share specific notes with family members, who can view or edit depending on the permissions you set.
Note sharing is currently limited to members within the same subscription plan. We’re exploring options for sharing with external users in a future update.
Billing & Account
Your notes remain on your devices. You just won’t be able to sync new changes across devices until you resubscribe. We never delete your data.
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time. When you upgrade, you’re credited for the unused portion of your current plan. When you downgrade, the change takes effect at your next billing date.
If you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play, manage your subscription through those platforms. If you subscribed on the web, you can manage your subscription from within the app’s settings.
